Xenolith
A xenolith is a piece of rock trapped in another type of rock. Most of the time, a xenolith is a rock embedded in magma while the magma was cooling. These rocks are from the Big Bend region where much of the volcanic activity occurred 30-40 million years ago. Many of these rare xenoliths have been shaped into ovoids while in the seas that covered much of the region.
Each xenolith you see here is harvested on long walks by gallery owner Vilis Inde on his property outside of Terlingua, TX. These are rare and special finds.
